A Glowing Winter Elopement on Frozen Lake Champlain

Imagine eloping somewhere nobody has - like on the middle of a frozen lake.

"I've been dreaming of coordinating an elopement on Lake Champlain since I first launched Black Dog Affairs," says wedding planner Leah Stewart. "The issue was the Lake hadn't frozen over in years!"

On March 9th, 2019, the National Weather Service announced that for the first time since 2015, Lake Champlain had completely frozen over. Leah jumped into action and gathered a team of talented vendors.

"Despite temperatures below freezing, blistering 20 mph winds, and no shelter from the elements, our team had so much fun," she says. "What makes this shoot so special to me is that we accessed the most picturesque, illusive venue, which melted away just a few days later!"
